#InternetKilledtheVideoStar Vol. 10 – Unleash the Dragon

See, this is what happens when you get too big for your britches. This is what happens when you have people around you that no longer know how to tell you no. This is what happens when you try to stretch the limits of your creativity. You get the video for “Unleash the Dragon.”

WHAT?

This was the title track off of SisQó’s debut album. That album gave us “Thong Song”, “Incomplete” and “Got to Get It.”

*deep Negro sigh*

Tatyana Ali made an appearance in this video too…I hope she was sufficiently compensated for this.

LIke, I really don’t have much to say about this video. Usually with this series, I talk about videos I like, videos that inspired me to want to direct…I don’t like this video. It doesn’t make much sense. The sound is low, the graphics are dated (however, my fiance noted when I showed this video to him that these graphics were next level for 2000). What’s the story with this video? Why are these folks waiting below this balcony to see SisQó perform? Did his singing unleash the dragon? Did all of this warrant a news crew?

There’s footage of the making of this video and they realized it was so corny that they didn’t air the video. There isn’t even a Wikipedia page for this song because it went double lint. Two million down the drain because they wanted to get their Uwe Boll on.

Rembert Browne goes into detail on the video in this five year old piece on Grantland. He’s better than me for doing the more detailed breakdown.

Check this video out and then for your own sanity, go ahead and watch the video for “Incomplete” just because.
